ATEDCo becomes member of World Tourism Organization

The Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company (ATEDCo) recently became a member of the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations (UNWTO) following the unanimous decision of the Annual General Assembly of this international body. Its participation in the World Tourism Organization reinforces the role of ATEDCo as the city's official tourism body, as this international network programme comprises one of its main administrative plans of action to distinguish Athens as one of the leading tourism destinations in Europe. It is worth noting that this participation comprises the most recent international network initiative, alongside which they are also planning further expansion of its cooperation with other international bodies, this year and in 2009. Besides this, in the same context of the international network programme of the City of Athens in the areas of tourism and economic development, ATEDCo already participates as an official member in the European Cities Marketing network and in the International Congress and Conferences Association.
