Hotels Association and ATEDCo attend ITB 2011

The joint appearance of the Athens-Attica Hotels Association and the City of Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company (ATEDCo) at the ITB Tourism Show was deemed once more a great success. The event was held from 9 to 13 March 2011 in Berlin.

As part of the joint strategy for promoting Athens internationally and for developing partnerships with tourism organisations, Athens-Attica Hotels Association and ATEDCo shared a stand at ITB 2011 as co-exhibitors for the Greek National Tourism Organisation to promote the tourism product and hotel infrastructure of the city.

The Athens stand was visited by numerous German and other professionals from various tourism sectors (cultural tourism, City Breaks, conference and company meetings, incentives, student and educational tourism, etc.), while attendance was also high during the two days the show was open to the public.

According to the president of Athens-Attica Hotels Association Mr. John Retsos, the effort of reversing last years negative climate for Athens can be prospered if there is a close cooperation and good coordination among market players, local government and the State.

"Athens and Attica, by extension," pointed out Mr. Retsos, "It's an absolute safe destination, with a significant range of tourism products and services and excellent hotel infrastructure. It is ideal for attracting quality tourism throughout the year and can accommodate all forms of tourism in all categories, including large markets such as Germany.
This is the main message that we must pass, and in this direction Athens-Attica Hotels Association co-operates with the City of Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company
"

The ATEDCo-Hotels Association stand was also visited by Greek Minister of Culture and Tourism Pavlos Geroulanos, who described the effort being made by both organisations to promote Athens in international markets as particularly worthwhile. Additionally, the Athens booth was visited by the Deputy Minister Mr George Nikitiadis, the Secretary General of GNTO, Mr. George Koletsos and President of GNTO Mr. Nikos Kanellopoulos who were informed about the actions taken by ATEDCo and Athens-Attica Hotels Association in order to develop tourism in Athens and promote the tourism product along with its hotel infrastructure of Athens.
