A new "Info-point" visitor information office has been opened on the ground floor of Public in Syntagma as part of City of Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis' strategy to promote Athens as an urban destination.

As part of its targeted promotion programme showcasing Athens in major tourism markets, aimed at boosting the city's economy, ATEDCo as an official tourist entity of the City of Athens made a thorough presentation of the tourism product and the competitive advantages of Athens in the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA)'s Annual Members' Catalogue for 2009.
As part of its programme for international networking and exchange of expertise, ATEDCo held a special presentation for representatives of the Republic of Khakassia at the organisation's offices on 20 January.
In its effort to support the Greek retail trade, which constitutes a significant sector in the prosperity and revenue production of Greece, the Athens Tourism and Economic Development Co. (ATEDCo) was one of the sponsors of the Retail Business Awards 2008, which took place 24 November at the Glyfada Golf Club.
With the aim of the promotion of Athens in new tourist markets, the ATEDCo today participated in a B2B meeting between 20 tour operators from Azerbaijan, which took place at the Metropolitan hotel.
Athens was represented at the Special Joint Committee for the promotion of Convention Tourism, by the CEO of the ATEDCo, Mr Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, and the Director of the Athens Convention Bureau, Mr George Angelis.
Athens will be the featured destination at the 2nd International Tourism and Property Roadshow in London, where ATEDCo will present the unique beauties of the city, as well as its own actions for developing tourism and promoting Athens.
A meeting was held between the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, Dr Liudmila Kostkina, and the Mayor of Athens, Nikitas Kaklamanis, during a one-day conference on the subject of "Days of St Petersburg".
