Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company and Athens-Attica Hotels Association make joint appearance at ITB 2010 in Berlin

The joint appearance of the Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company (ATEDCo) and the Athens-Attica Hotels Association for the second consecutive year at the ITB tourism trade show was deemed a great success. The event was held from 10 to 14 March in Berlin.

As part of Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis' strategy for promoting Athens internationally and for developing partnerships with tourism organisations, ATEDCo and the Athens-Attica Hotels Association shared a stand at ITB 2010 as co-exhibitors for the Greek National Tourism Organisation to promote the tourism product and hotel infrastructure of the city.

The Athens stand was visited by numerous German and other professionals from various tourism sectors (cultural tourism, City Breaks, conference and company meetings, incentives, student and educational tourism, etc.), while attendance was also high during the two days the show was open to the public.

The ATEDCo-Hotels Association stand was also visited by Greek Minister of Culture and Tourism Pavlos Geroulanos, who described the effort being made by both organisations to promote Athens in international markets as particularly worthwhile. Deputy Minister Angela Gerekou also praised the joint participation in ITB 2010.

It should be noted that Athens was distinguished among 150 cities for its promotional film "Breathtaking Athens," taking third prize in the City Tourism category in the international Golden City Gate competition at ITB 2010. The new promotional film on Athens receives dozens of positive comments daily on foreign blogs and is also a candidate for New York's Clio Awards, Great Britain's D&AD and the international Cannes Lion.
