Official partnership between the City of Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company and TripAdvisor

The City of Athens Tourism and Economic Development Company (ATEDCo), as part of Mayor of Athens Nikitas Kaklamanis' strategy to establish Athens as an ideal destination all year round while placing great emphasis on tourism development and the promotion of the city, has entered into a partnership with TripAdvisor, the largest and most popular web-based travel and tourism community.

In responding to modern demands of internet users and their increasing need for real advice from other visitors with experience in each destination, ATEDCo will showcase comments from www.tripadvisor.com in a special section of Athens' official tourism website, www.breathtakingathens.com.

TripAdvisor attracts 25 million visitors, has more than 15 million members and hosts more than 30 million comments and criticism about tourist sights and 500,000 hotels around the world. The site already hosts comments on more than 300 hotels in Athens.

Through its collaboration with TripAdvisor, ATEDCo seeks to promote the quality hotel potential of the city, as well as specific elements of the tourism product, which include significant competitive advantages (access to the coast, modern museums, alternative activities, nearby destinations, etc.).

ATEDCo's association with JOOBILI.COM two months ago and the launch of its official collaboration with TRIPADVISOR.COM mark the beginning of a systematic and targeted programme to promote Athens in select markets and groups of potential visitors, thereby strengthening the contemporary and alternative image of the city abroad through the use of modern marketing methods and new communication media.
